Pamela Matson is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine with an appointment in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is an epidemiologist, who studies the mechanisms by which social and structural determinants produce health disparities for adolescents and young adults, with a particular focus on substance use. She is engaged in research and addiction medicine training to incorporate a family systems approach to improve prevention and early intervention of adolescent substance use in primary care settings. She works closely with state and community partners to design strategies that address complex public health problems and promote health equity. She earned her MPH from Yale University School of Public Health and her PhD from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
